XK120 Racer

Description

Chassis no. 670033 is an aluminium-bodied lightweight Jaguar XK120 roadster.  In its original colours of cream with a two-tone red and biscuit interior it was despatched from the factory in 1949 to International Motors, the authorised Jaguar dealer in Hollywood, California.  It was used by Roger Barlow, the proprietor of International Motors, as his demonstrator and was doubtless driven by numerous celebrities.  Road racing was taking off in the USA in the 1950s and Roger Barlow raced the car at the inaugural Palm Springs race meeting.  It was also entered in the Sandown Hill Climb on the West Coast, amongst other events in the States.

Following a very full restoration, it competed successfully during 2008 in some of the most highly regarded concours events in the USA including Amelia Island, where it won the Road & Track Award, Meadowbrook, Louisville, Cincinnati and Ohio, at all of which it won first place.

On return to the UK 657 YUM was raced at events such as Le Mans Classic, which it did in 2016.  It has since been enjoyed on the road but the current custodian has decided that it is time for a new owner to have the pleasure of driving this historic vehicle.  Currently sporting Brooklands aero screens, it comes complete with spats, full windscreen, interior carpet & tonneau.  This very original XK120 SS still has in-date FIA papers and is ready to be enjoyed on the track or road as its new owner desires.
