The Austin Healey Sprite nicknamed frogeye sprite in the UK, is a remarkably fun, driveable and inexpensive classic. Its small, simplistic and unique design gives the vehicle a loveable and cheerful character; in this example the bright baby blue colour really strengthens its joyful persona.
Originally from the west coast of the USA this vehicle had held up exceptionally well in the dry climate compared to most sprites that reportedly began to rust in the UK only a couple years after production. It was then purchased and began restoration in the UK in 2006 and painted in its current colour (the photos of the vehicle before and after restoration is included in the history file). All the running gear was installed on the body shell and in July of 2010 the restoration was complete.
More recent upgrades were in 2017 where £4,543 was spent on upgrades including front disc brakes and wire wheels. After 13 years since its restoration the bodywork is still in fantastic condition, the leather seats and interior show no sign of wear or damage and for a car from 1958 the gear shift and clutch are very smooth. The engine runs perfectly, from the turn of a key this frogeye sprite is ready to drive and enjoy!
